  How many in your generation are still JW???

  how many in your age group are still jehovahs witnesses?

  from where we are at, there aren't many left.

  each year it gets smaller and smaller haha .

  The Spanish JW community here in FL is more about the community than it is about the religion. We're a tight knit bunch, always together celebrating something, but I see that overall they are sending their young to college, allowing them to participate in extra curricular activities, even supporting a group to go to their high school senior prom.

  I could palpate in the Spanish congs people are really tired of waiting and finally doing their own thing and living their lives.

  So happy to see the young taking charge of their lives!

  I know of two separate stories of elders taking part in JCs while committing adultery themselves for yeeeeeears, one of them with a step-niece (step-child of his older brother). Sick!

  Self-named God's Org is no better than any other unscrupulous man-made religion.😕

  Could a petition to make shunning illegal work?

  we're currently watching leah remini's series about scientology and the main thing she seems to focus on is the shunning policies of the scientology organization which let's face it are very similar to jw procedure.. i was wondering with all that's in the media recently about bullying could a petition be put together to get the goverment to consider making religiously mandated shunning illegal?

  has such a thing been tried before?.

  Different people help, but his demeanor and attitude towards her is awful. I told hubby that I would file a complaint of elderly abuse with the State if something is not done soon to get him to either hire help for her or put it in a home where she would get the 24-7 care she so desperately needs.

  There is one elder who neglects his sick bed-ridden wife horribly. The other elders and several other cong members know it, and yet nobody will move a finger to remove and privately admonish him.

  The saddest situation I have seen.

  Happens ALL the time. There is a person in our family with a heavy drinking problem. Has been disfellowshipped for the same 2x previously; reinstated a few months back, but the drinking to the level of passing out often hasn't stopped. The wife is the perfect reg pioneer. All in our family know it and nobody will turn him in.

  There is no justice whatsoever in this religious org. Is there justice in any man-made org?

  Growing up JW kid: do you recognize

  born in 1970, 4th generation jw and parents who were loyal to but could also think on their own.. my father always said, the show goes on, so he had a respectable community job, advisor of the city counsel of the town.

  and buying ald building houses for us.

  we were on the move.. what i remember is the many conversations at home about the other witnesses.

  3rd gen JW. Happy childhood overall; parents supported me in going to college. I did the pioneering thing for a bit, but ever since the 1995 overlapping gen silliness, the WTBTS is irrelevant know my book.

  "Blah, blah, blah..." is what every meeting sounds like, the ones I attend.

  All things considered, it's quite alright at the Spanish JW way of life. Love my family, friends and acquaintances.

  Even if it's not the truth, it's still the best way to live

  how many times did you hear that gem?

  it often went along with "the truth is a protection" which is their way of saying "living a moral life is good for you ... and you can't do that without us".. but think about what people are really saying.

  i think the real message is "i know it's not the truth, but i chose to follow it anyway".. it seems like a pre-emptive argument because they know they can't defend it as "the truth" so instead they switch to defending it as a lifestyle.. of course any kind of lifestyle that has a decent moral ingredient to it, respect for law and order, discipline etc... probably increases people's chances of doing better in life, but they don't have a monopoly on it.. so just remember, next time you hear someone saying "even if it's not the truth" what they are really admitting is that they already know it isn't..

  What the heck is "the truth" in ANY case, religious or otherwise. It's all relative and ever changing.

  No matter your circumstance, make a conscious decision to be joyful.

  After a nice family dinner, I'm feeling quite alright and thankful with my lot in life. Wishing the same for you all.

  Life's so short to be ofuscated in stuff one cannot change.
